This is the most frequently asked question in our lives as of late. I stopped to think about how I actually did feel about married life. And for a week or two I couldn't put my finger on the feeling. Finally, in a moment of revelation, I found the perfect way to describe my newlywed experience so far.
Do you remember the feeling of riding your first bike? You rocked back and forth on your training wheels as you weaved down the sidewalk; never quite able to center yourself on your two "big kid" tires. But then one afternoon, your Dad joins you and gives you a Daddy sized shove down the pavement and you experience the exhilarating feeling of a straight shoot down the street; your training wheels spinning in the air a few inches above the ground. "I'm doing it! I'm doing it!" is the elated cry in your proud little heart.
That, my friends, is how I feel about being married. "We're doing it! We're doing it!"
No, we haven't, by any stretch of the imagination, mastered riding the bike. Yes, at any minute we may rock to the side and be caught by our wobbly little training wheels. But at this moment. I am enjoying every minute of our "Daddy sized push", coasting down the sidewalk, as we enjoy the grace and love of our Father... in one another.
"You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands." -Isaiah 55:12
